Shared from Spencer Viner, these beautiful photos by professional photographer, Kevin Farias, make all those who didn’t go envious – and we won’t miss it next time around!
The Black Ships Festival Gala took place on August 15th at Ochre Court in Newport, and the guests were at capacity with 220 enjoying a wonderful evening filled with entertainment, good food, dancing, and camaraderie.
Enjoy the photos of attendees and performances by the Taiko Drummers and more. At the podium, there were welcoming remarks by JASRI President Maryanne Brandmeier; acknowledgement (and introduction) of our main sponsors (Toray Plastics and Joe & Betty Brito) by President Emeritus Viner; remarks by Chris Roy (CEO and President of Toray) and Toshiyuki Kondo (President of Toray Industries (America), Inc.; and the presentation of a Certificate of Posthumous Dedication in memory of Warren B. Galkin to the Galkin family by President Emeritus Viner.
Then came the ceremonial breaking of the Sake drum. After dinner, DJ Face lured the guests out onto the dance floor in the main hall. The photos clearly show how guests answering the call of, “dance like nobody’s watching”!
Enjoy!
