Two people were hospitalized for smoke inhalation after an apartment fire in North Lawndale early Sunday, Chicago Fire Department officials said.
Firefighters responded to a fire at a residential building in the 2200 block of South Keeler Avenue at about 5:30 a.m., according to fire officials.

A 71-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man were taken to Stroger Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital, respectively, for smoke inhalation, according to Chicago Police.
The woman was listed in critical condition, and the man was in good condition, police said.
The fire was extinguished by about 6:13 a.m., fire officials said.
No other injuries were reported. Nine people were displaced, police said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by Area detectives.
